Education and Workshops
Sue and Ingrid combine a wealth of experience and insight in education at all levels, encouraging students to fulfill and trust in their own creativity. They are both experienced workshop leaders - as well as being Course Director for St. Mary's Summer Jazz Course, Sue has taken masterclasses for Leeds College of Music, Enterprise Music Scotland, Benslow Music Trust and Napier University Jazz Summer School. Ingrid is also an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and has been involved in workshops with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Edinburgh International Festival. She has also adjudicated for Rotary Club and school music competitions.
We offer half/whole day and weekend workshops for all ages and standards of playing.

Covering breathing and mouthpiece/reed setup, easy approaches to improve tone and technique, how to practice scales and incorporate them into your playing, how to improve your sight reading, rhythm skills, how to practice and master repertoire.
Experience the thrill of playing in a large saxophone group! Everything from baroque to funk. How to play in a large ensemble, listening skills and learning to follow a conductor. This can also be broken down into quartets, trios and duets. Music will be supplied.
A unique opportunity to hear each member of the saxophone family in its own individual role and the music written for it.
Preparing for exams and auditions, playing with an accompanist, how to rehearse, playing musically, knowing your repertoire.
Learn how to create your own improvisations, scales and modes, making musical ideas, finding your own “voice”, stylistic aspects of playing swing/funk/rock, starting with the blues, free improvisation, forming your own combo. This workshop can be opened to include ANY instrumentation.
Elements of the above can be adapted to suit your needs and can include a performance.
